Sermon 26-07-09
Readings: Gen 11,1-9 , John 14: 8-17 (Jhon 18: 33-38)
Two stories thin morning whom are each other contra point
Both stories show us something about human love.
To understand the different in love of both stories we look at the meaning of advocate.
The advocate Jesus promised Phillips when he asked: “Show us the father” is an advocate whom is in line with thruth and love (also later called the spirit in our tradition) and when the truth and lobe are combined in the sprit then the father is there.
The two stories are contradicting each other.
In the first stories you see that people like them self’s that much (love them self’s that much) that the want to show it of by building a tower to say it differently the want to become like God’s. It is a tower to celebrate the love for theme self’s.
If when look to a role of the advocate Pilate in Jhon 18:33-38
John combines truth, love and with the aperients of the father
Palates combine through with washing his hands. He doens want to take a risk and want to stay in power. You could say through isn’t that impotent for him. He did not find any gild in Jesus but deliver him to the crowd. He is a kind of coward
To choice like this it still happens, we still washed our hand if we don’t want to take the risk. We can see in politics or in our own live when we back off and don’t want to come forwards when there is injustice.
The truth makes us free and in the truth lays love. That often what I tell the in mates when I work with to. Yes there is a possibility that the are convicted wrongly (like Jesus was convicted by pilates wrongly) but you know what you did and you know what to do and that is to crate a place where the sprite of the father can be.
It’s never to late for that
Because every one whom likes the thought listen to what I have to say. That is what following Jesus means And with in that choice the father shall be with us in him love
